It feels weird...

I guess it is really sinking in that I am all grown. Everyone back at A&M is going back to school today...yet I woke up at 4 to come to work. It is really sinking in now that I am done with school. I had a feeling it was going to happen like that. I kinda felt I was doing an internship this summer....but this internship is going to last for >40 years. Anyone else going through what I am going through right now.

Matt...you'll know what I am saying in due time.

Im doing good, just staying busy with work. I am doind a lot of training and online modules (some we took in college). I thought school was over but not really. I start DLOC soon which is a 3 month long radar class. That should be fun.

Wedding stuff is going good. It is gonna be here before i know it.

I might be going to Corpus...

So a corpus landfall looks possible of dean as a major hurricane. Well my boss from corpus called me today and told me he is calling southern region tomorrow requesting that I go down on monday if needed to help in hurricane operations. This would be really sweet they would fly me out there and give me per diem and stay in hotels or in the office if the eye passes close to corpus.

If this happens and i go...i will keep a daily journal and try to post updates. I will post the journal when all is said and done.

First week of work..

Well Y'all.. I know I am like one of the last people to finally start work but I did. Its almost the end of week one and its pretty cool here. Very different from what all of y'all do. It very much Atmospheric Chemistry, like writing air permits and stuff. I'm still learning everything because we tookt hat class how many years ago and what do I remember?? nothing... so its kinda hard but its a nice place with nice people. I have my own office and I have out some A&M things to make it look good.

I'm excited about all the tropical weather we are having..Dean looks cool.

I am all moved into my apartment so if anyone is visiting Houston, you are welcome to come by. Come over Alicia and Jennifer! its gets lonely living by yourself...

The GFS 240hr 500mb forecast:

Tropics getting active...

Tropical Depression 4 formed way out in the atlantic and is at least 10 days from the gulf. A lot of the models are bringing into the Gulf and making landfall anywhere from mexico to Florida. This will likely be tropical storm dean later today or tomorrow. This system will have the potential to be a major hurricane whereever it makes landfall. Something to watch.

There is also a disturbance between Cuba and the Yucatan that is rapidly becoming more organized and a tropical depression is likely tonight or tomorrow. Most models have this becoming a strong tropical storm or a weak hurricane making landfall in the middle texas coast. This system could help the one in the atlantic to not explode once it hits the gulf as it takes energy out of the GOM.

Ice Cream Week...

so with all the high pressure and hot weather it was declared ice cream week. Every night we are doing this at a different place but I thought i'd put up the one from braums yesterday. I think im going to have to take this down in a few days...i dont know about all the copyrights and what not but just know this... i found the perk of the job include free ice cream!

Sunday....

Discovery channel has a new show on called Can we control the weather or something like that at 7pm talking about cloud seeding and whatnot. I found out that they cloud seed like crazy here in the panhandle and one it caused a F3 or F4 to form because of it. After that there is a show called Superstorm from 8-10pm about being able to control hurricanes and break them apart. Pretty sweet...the DVR is set already.
